Fanart Friday: TINF
It’s not Friday, but who cares!  I’m a busy guy, if I want Wednesday to be Fanart Friday, I will!  And so what if all my Fanart Fridays tend to be “boys in questionably platonic relationships cuddling?”  I do what I want!
This is fanart of  the fabulous webcomic This is Not Fiction! by Nicole.  TINF is an adorable story about a fanboy in love with an author shrouded in mystery.  But it’s his friend/enemy/informant, Landon, who makes the comic for me.  He is precious and forward and sassy, and the perfect foil to Julian’s ridiculousness … with his own brand of ridiculousness.  The latest arc, in which Landon has fallen ill and Julian skips school to tend to him, left me wondering what the nature of their relationship really is, or will grow to be.  They’re a great pair, and straight-man Isaiah (not pictured) really completes the a trio with a fabulous dynamic.  These three could seriously do nothing and I would still be entertained by their antics.
About this painting:
Holbein gouche on arches watercolor paper.  I used some of what I learned doing the BFF piece to make this one less outline-heavy.  I’m very excited with the result.
Can’t wait to see Mickey and Nicole at Otakon!  I’ll be in the dealer’s room, but I plan to sneak away and meet all the lovely artists I admire.  I’ll be at Neko-Jin Designs table selling copies of my own comic, Prince of Cats (so come say hi if you’ll be there too!)
